About
Born in England, Emily Caldwell grew up in an artistic environment where book illustration and ceramics, to mosaic and professional portraiture were being created. She pursued photography as a teenager while looking for a more immediate way to express herself. Emily created her own darkroom in a back closet of the art room, where she spent months learning how to expose and develop photographs.
Over the last 6 years Emily has put over 200,000 miles on her car and thousands more on tour while criss-crossing the country pursuing authenticity, shooting landscapes, concerts and personalities. Her personal photography grew out of areas that are off the beaten path between the big cities that she loves. An outgoing, investigative personality, she uses her photography as a way of ‘self remembering’ and story-telling.
"A few years ago, I decided to leave the windy city of Chicago and travel the open road, experiencing and photographing this vast country I call home. That original one-year goal flew out the window on some lonely two lane highway in the desert."
